The Trillum, an artificial intelligence-powered robotic building, is being constructed in the Australian city of Melbourne, the company behind it said on Tuesday.
It is the first artificial intelligence built in the city and was developed with support from the Australian National University.
The project will cost $500 million and be built on land that was previously owned by an Australian government agency, said the Trillums chief executive, Tim Scott.
“The Trillumnis unique system is based on the architecture of the planet.
The technology is being built on the planet and is fully autonomous, without any humans in the building,” Scott told reporters.
“We’re going to have a fully autonomous system that can build, move, and communicate with people around the world.”
The building will be a large structure that will take up an area of about 3,000 square meters, said Scott.
He said the robot could be used to build solar panels for homes, to build homes on vacant land, or to provide housing for workers.
Scott said the company was hoping to get funding from the Federal Government, as well as private sector investors, to help fund the project.
Tillerson said Trillumes design, engineering and manufacturing company, Trilluminium, had developed a technology to automate construction.
The Trills are working with the Department of Transport to develop an app that will allow Trilluses users to navigate around the project and to communicate with engineers, he said.
This will allow them to create a design of the Trills’ new building, which will be connected to the internet via Trillules cloud-based construction management system.
Trillum is the brainchild of Australia’s best-known computer scientist and is a joint venture between Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the University of Melbourne.
It was developed by the university’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and is funded by the Australian Government.
